Too Late Is Not An Issue

A story was told of a 15 years old boy who desired to commit his life to God by becoming a born again Christian. He decided that the right time for such commitment was after his secondary education because he thought academic activities would hamper his willingness to take active parts in church activities.

After the secondary school, he got admission into a university. The academic activities there took more of his time more than he ever thought it would so he had to postpone the time to be a born-again Christian a second time. He said he was too busy so he had to living his life as usual till he graduated from the university. He believed nothing would require as much of his time as academics require it then.

Before you know what was happening, he graduated and found himself in the labour market. Now it had to be when he had gotten a job. He sure got the job but it had to again be when he bought a car. Later, it had to be when he was married. So did that postponement continued for there was always a reason for it- the time was never perfect.

In the twinkle of an eye, the 15 years old boy had attained the age of 74. You would ask that what else would be his excuse at that age but don’t be surprised if I tell you that he had because he did and it was Oh, it’s too late for me to become a born-again Christian for I’m no longer agile to do all that will be required of me. Did I hear you say what a pity?

A lot of people, yourself probably inclusive, are living under this kind of situation but It Never Is Truly Too Late as long as you still desire to live that dream. The problem is many people wait too long for the right time, which will never come or better still is non-existent. If you must take action, the right time is now for waiting and wishing will not take you anywhere but action will take you everywhere.

The most successful people you ever knew or heard about “wowed” the world when the best soothsayer would have said it is over for them so get up now and do something for the world is waiting to benefit from that potential lying dormant within you. How backward do you think the world would still be if Bill Gates did not act on time despite been a school dropout? You can still change the world’s most critical story.

As long as you are living, you still can do something for I think the only living man is the active man. Loretta puts it right when she said “You’ve got to continue to grow or you’re just like last night’s cornbread, stale and dry. So go get something done, it can never be too late

Five P's That Guarantee Success Without Money.

Success in our daily conversation connotes riches, fame, and some sorts of social status but the truthfulness or accuracy of that mentality is often questionable especially when we dig below the surface of what the source of such riches is. A good way to start is to ask if inherited riches can be regarded as Success; this is probably a child that never worked for anything but became rich, famous, and influential as a result of the fact that someone has left those things for him. He surely made no contribution to acquire those riches except may be by been a responsible child but the actual sweat that accumulated the wealth did he not contribute.

Success is the accomplishment of a previously had mission or the achievement of consciously set goals. Therefore, success can not be measured in financial terms because I may say, “I have succeeded” if lose some pounds of my weight after making some conscious efforts to lose it even though no financial benefit is may be attached to losing the weight.

Success in life does not always wait on how much money you have to kick-start a project or get your ideas off the launching pad. The five P’s in this piece will help achieve your goals no matter what they are.

Purpose: This is often referred to as “Set Goals”; that thing that you want to achieve. For you to be successful, there’s need for you to set realistic and reasonable goals that is within your capacity and be reduced to writing. When you set them, stick to them and review them when necessary. A survey shows that only 3% of people around the world reduce their purpose to writing and 1% review those purposes. Be as definite as if an angel will appear to you at anytime t ask you what your purpose in life is, if you stammer or stutter, you don’t have a goal.

Passion: This is the enthusiasm you have for your purpose that keeps you awake in the night. Real passion will keep you working while others are resting, fasting while they are dining, stooping while they are crouching, and stretching while they are folding. It makes you restless, ready to sacrifice everything and work against all odds. A paraphrase of what Napoleon Hill said in his book Think And Grow Rich “Wishing (purpose) will not give you riches (success in anything) but the desire with a state of mind that becomes an obsession (passion). The moment your purpose takes the center-stage of your thought, it will automatically take prominence in your actions, and then you are on the highway to achieving success. Remember, passion knows no failure or at least does not bow to it.

Plan: Now, you are at the stage that requires that you slow down a bit. Put you purpose, mission, or goal on paper; weigh the required sacrifices like time, finance, leisure, and human resources that will be help in achieving your goals. Make a list of what you are ready to give as an exchange for your set goals. The saying that “he who fail to plan, plan to fail” can’t be more correct because proper planning will give you vision to see ahead in time, the potholes of what would have been obstacles on you highway to success. Declare in your plans that you will not back off until your purpose is realized- Persistence. If those plans fail, don’t give up, review them and try again.

People: All the money, time and other resources you need and can not provide for to make your purpose a success is in the hands of other people and if you are learned in human relations, they will not only be willing to offer you the needed help but will also be glad they did. Dale Carnegie says, “15% of one’s financial success is due to one’s technical knowledge and about 85% is due to skill in human engineering”. When you are interested in people, they will in turn be interested in you, but don’t let your interest in them be centred on what you want to get from them. It has to be real. Stop thinking of taking the glory alone; there is always something to benefit from involving people- two good heads are better than one. This should also not translate into servitude or total dependence, it require just petty sacrifices.

5. Prayer: If you have not known the spiritual force behind your being, leave your purpose at this stage and go find out. It

Refresh Your Ideas

If a cooked food is left in a closet, say a kitchen and in a container for days like five without preservation, I can bet you know that it would have undergone a serous process of decomposition. It would by that time have become host to bacteria of various specie and enormous quantity or worse still, it must have been taken over by maggots of large and small sizes.

The food that was once decorated with all sorts of vegetables, beans, creams, meat, fish, egg, colorants, etc has after awhile become an eyesore with a suffocating stench. Some days back, this same food has the strength to engage anyone’s olfactory sense of perception from few meters away, neighbors don’t need be told to know that a special delicacy was been prepared somewhere around. But what are we left with? A stinking and, decomposing carefully combined organic substances.

The food was prepared to be enjoyed and to nourish the body but the bacterial activities on it over time has rendered it useless if not dangerous to the body if eaten. This is the same way outdated concepts our minds are programmed with make ideas stink. Goals may be good and reasonably achievable in the onset but because it has to go through those minds, they get infected in the process.

The bacterial concepts can however be installed by friends, relative, bosses, critics and even mentors. These bacteria are spread by comments, criticisms, or even a simple mocking laughter directed at one’s plans which could have been fruitful. This is why one should always be careful with keeping an open mind.

To avoid this bacterial infection, specific measures should be taken and these measures must be intentional. First, one must treasure his ideas and guard them from possible infections. They must be kept away from family, friends, colleagues etc that will possibly not think the way one thinks. This does not overrule the advice-seeking idea but care should be taken in choosing their source. Second, Read publications that will guide your ideas. How fantastic will it be if one’s idea is concerned with solving marital problem and you have good magazine, books, etc around to use from time to time? Three, this perhaps should have come first because it sounds to me the most important as it borders on YOU. Some people (not you anyway) are so pessimistic that they achieve anything by accident. They don’t see themselves as able to transform their ideas into reality. They always need someone’s help, which they are also sure of not getting. 90% of the greatest people the world ever know are those that see themselves as the only needed stuff to achieve whatever they want to achieve.

Work on these and you’ll see a tremendous change. Always remember that you are the captain of your Life’s ship. No other man will steer it for you except to his own advantage. See why it takes just you to realize your dreams and be who you really want to be. Luckily, you’re all yours.

See you on the field at harvest!

Genius Are Never Born, They Are Made.

Every man has a reason for his failure, whether genuine or not, he tries to attribute it to one thing or the other that is beyond his physical, mental, or spiritual control. This phenomenon is so rampant that some will even blame their origin, colour, religion, education, etc for their failure.

Never has failure or success been achieved based on origin, colour, religion, education, or sorts sine God pronounced procreation as a product of marriage (based on some people’s belief, myself inclusive). Never also has it been heard in the history of man that any woman gave birth to a pilot, a surgeon, a musician etc. The only thing given birth to in the history of man is either a boy or girl though numerous obituaries announcing the death of good number of pilots, surgeons, musicians, etc.

In essence, this implies that some kind of transformation at a particular time took place in the lives of such boy or girl. Therefore, their conversion from that biological boys or girls into celebrities took place between their birth and death. This also indicates that either by choice or by training an ordinary person becomes super-ordinary.

The issue of achieving success by accident is out of it. For you to achieve your dream, you have to work towards it. It would sound incredibly crazy to the most foolish person the world ever heard of, if Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Mountain Everest should say that he was just out walking around in his backyard and he suddenly found himself at the top of the tallest mountain in the world. He must have dreamt of and prepared for that great feat.

Be reasonable now and look at yourself as one with the whole opportunities in the world to be that best you want to be. To be specific, this means that you are in total control of whatever life will offer you- your destiny.

May be wrong information might make you take some wrong steps in the past that place you where you are today. That not withstanding, it’s time to wake up, get up and face the challenges ahead. No amount of excuses will justify your dormancy. The greatest people of this world must have, once in their lifetime, been taken down but what they do is always refuse to stay down.

Look within, there’s always something to develop within that will take you to that top that you so much desire. The only thing you need about the past is the lesson you have learnt from your successes and failure. The past is gone and the future is yet to be here, so the only useful resource you have is today and that today is you. That is probably why Ralph Waldo Emerson said “ what lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”.

We all know what to do to achieve or be who we want to be but humans are capable of forgetting too often and that is why the following steps are listed to remind you. Now pick your pen and put these down because an idea not put in writing is possibly a lost idea. First, create a good self-image for yourself that will convince your inner mind that you can do what it takes to make it big in whatever you choose to do. What you think of yourself is the major thing that makes you not what others think of you. You need to conquer the “I can’t do it” syndrome. Second, Create good relationship with people that can positively contribute to your success. The people you hag out with have tremendous impact on how far and fast you will go in life. What you get from them, either positive or negative will tell how worthwhile it is to continue to in that relationship. Third, set definite and realistic goals that you want to and can achieve. Make sure it is reduced to writing and placed where you will see it from time to time; may be on your mirror or wall ext to your bed. Forth, develop good attitude. This bothers on how you see things. Are those things you are doing to get to where you want burdensome or luxurious? Are you paying or enjoying the price? If you have cold attitude toward life, it may reduce your chances of hitting your target on time if at all you are going to hit it. Fifth, You have to get something doing. Success is just like fish in the ocean, you can be sure it is always there but it will not approach a hook that has no bait on it. If you want success, start working. No matter how small, start and remember, with enthusiasm. Sixth, desire. This, may be, ought to come as number one on the list because it is the mother of all achievement. This dos not mean a lukewarm desire, but the burning one like those of Edwin C. Barnes, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Henry Ford, etc. Just desire it sincerely and before you know it, you’ve got it.

Final words? “The whole course of things goes to teach us faith. We need only obey. There is guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word”- Emerson.
